History of North America

What is the price of copper pennies before year 1982?

Before 1982, US pennies were made up of 95% copper and 5% tin in weight. The price would therefore depend on the spot price of copper at the time of minting of a given penny. Based on the spot price data, the estimated current market worth (based on weight of copper content alone, ignoring collector value which may depend on other factors or market demand) may be between $0.015 to $0.03
