The history of the formation of the 28th state of the country, Jharkhand has been very ups and downs. Due to which there were many rebellions and movements in the Jharkhand region, which we are describing below.
Revolts and agitations in Jharkhand
- In 1665 AD, Mughal emperor Shah Alam made East India a revenue collection agent.
- 1771 AD The region of Jharkhand came under the East India Company.
- In 1785 AD Baba Tilka Manjhi's movement took place.
- 1798 AD Munda rebellion in Bundi, led by Vishnu Mann.
- 1800 AD Chero rebellion in Palamu, led by Bhukhan Tsing.
- 1830-31 Kol Rebellion, led by Budhram Bhagat, Singa Ram and Surma.
- 1831-33 AD Bhumij rebellion, led by Ganga Narayan Singh.
- 1845 AD. Entry of Krishi Chayan in Jharkhand region,
- Sepoy Mutiny in 1856-57 AD, leaders Vishwanath Shahi, Ganpat Rai, Sheikh Bhikhari etc.
- 1859 AD is the beginning of the Sardar movement in the Chotanagpur division of the Purchase and Sale Act.
- 1869 AD Chotanagpur Tenancy Act came into force.
- 1835 AD Santhal Pargana Settlement Rule implemented.
- 1878 AD Reform movement in Chota Nagpur Indian Forest Act implemented.
- 1895- 1980 Birsa movement created the original survey settlement, 1901.
- 1903 AD Chotanagpur Tenancy Amendment Act implemented, ban on transfer of land.
- 1912 AD Introduction of Orissa from Bengal to Bihar.
- 1913-14 AD Tana Bhagat Movement, led by Jatra Bhagat, Shibu Maya, Deviya.
- 1917 AD:Melin movement against the British in Mayurbhanj district, in which 17 people were hanged.
- 1930 AD Salt Satyagraha Movement, led by Shahdev Mahato, Mohan Mahato, Gokul Mahato, Ganesh etc.
- 1936. Orissa was separated from Bihar,
- 1938 AD Adivasi Mahasabha leadership Jaipal Singh.
- 1942 AD Quit India Movement, Chosen Ram Mahto, Govind Mahto to lead.
- 1948 AD Khandsawa Movement, Jharkhand Movement.
- 1955 AD Demonstration before the State Reorganization Commission for the formation of a separate Jharkhand state, led by Jaipal.
- 1972 AD:Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) was formed under the leadership of Shibu Soren.
- 1978 AD The Communist Party of India supported the Jharkhand movement.
- 1979 AD The assassination of Jharkhandi leader Shakti Nath Mahato.
- 1985 AD Jharkhand Mukti Morcha captured 14 seats of Bihar Legislative Assembly.
- 1992 The Jharkhand Spices Committee recommended the formation of the Jharkhand General Council. The All Jharkhand Student Union called for a Jharkhand bandh, which was widely successful.
- In 1994 AD, the Bihar Legislative Assembly passed a bill for the formation of the Jharkhand Regional Autonomous Council.
- In 1997 AD, a resolution regarding a separate Jharkhand state was passed in the Bihar Legislative Assembly.
- In 1998 AD, a special session of 3 days was organized by the Bihar Legislature to discuss the Bihar Reorganization Bill.
- On November 15, 2000, Jharkhand became the 28th state of India.
