It is a rebellion by Mr. Uesugi Zenshu, a former Kanto governor who confronts the Kantō Kubō in the Kanto region in 1416 during the Muromachi period.
When I unravel the history of Kai with Takeda Shingen, I would like to summarize this inevitable war.
History of Uesugi Zenshu's turbulence
Situation around 1416
The center of politics during the Muromachi period was the shogunate located in Muromachi, Kyoto. Like other samurai governments that began in the Kamakura period, the authority of the imperial court could not be ignored. What is different from other times is that the imperial court was divided into two.
Each court (Northern and Southern Courts) continued to argue for legitimacy. Before the theme of this time, "Uesugi Zenshu no Ran", the imperial court was unified for the time being, but since the Northern Court broke the preconditions of the peace, the later Southern Court continues to resist.
Since the shogunate was based in Kyoto, a large organization is needed to govern the ten Kanto countries (to be exact, Kanhachishu + Izu / Kai), which have many rough samurai. The organization is Kamakura-fu. Kamakura Koga, the secretary of Kamakura-fu, was inherited by a branch of the shogun family. You can see that it is an important organization because it is a branch of the Shogun family.
On the other hand, Kamakura is located on the west side of the base of the Miura Peninsula, and in the south is Sagami Bay, a land surrounded by mountains on the other three sides, which is a natural hazard. The shogunate recognized that it would be difficult to deal with Kamakura-fu and the South Korean forces because it is adjacent to an area that is so troublesome that individual positions are required to govern.
In other words, it was necessary for Kamakura-fu to have the authority to govern, although it could not go against the shogunate. However, since it is a branch of Ashikaga, a major authority at that time, the presence of Kamakura-fu in the Kanto region will increase more and more than the shogunate demands.
Considering the relationship of Kamakura-fu, which is getting worse little by little, the Shogunate side also appoints the Oshu quest while expanding the scope of Kamakura-fu's rule (expanding to Oshu and Hashu) so that Kamakura-fu does not have too much power. There are also movements to restrain Kamakura-fu, such as carefully selecting people and making influential nationals who had been in conflict with Kamakura-fu a direct vassal.
A person who tried to take control of Kamakura-fu
From the name of Ran, it can be inferred that "Uesugi Zenshu" tried to seize the real power of Kamakura-fu, which had a great deal of authority, and failed, but it cannot be said that only Uesugi Zenshu tried to seize the real power. Hmm. Behind the scenes, the battle over the seat of Koga Kubō and the battle over the seat of the Kanto region can be seen and hidden.

* 1. The cause is that the anti-constitutional camp and Mitsutaka Ashikaga were linked. Mitsutaka apologized through the mediation of the constitution, and Mochiuji's half-brother was adopted by Mitsutaka. However, this matter triggered the movement of the anti-constitutional camp.
* 2. Uesugi Zenshu's vassal confiscated his territory because he did not serve. Ujinori was dismissed because he protested this.
Seven years before the Uesugi Zenshu turbulence, it was Mr. Mochiuji, a young child, who died and succeeded the third generation Kantō Kubō. The modern age is 10 or 11 years old ... The age of 4th and 5th graders.
Mochiuji's uncle, Mitsutaka Ashikaga, chooses to take over rather than support his childhood nephew. He ousted the constitution that supported Mr. Mochiuji (then died in 1413) in connection with the anti-constitutional faction.
The Kanto Kanrei Uesugi Constitution has been ousted from the Kanto Kanrei position in the wake of the rumor that Mitsutaka is plotting a rebellion and Mr. Mochiuji of Kantō Kubō escaped to the Constitution. After that, Zenshu Uesugi (Mr. Ken) from the Inukyu Uesugi family who gained the position of Kanto Kanrei. It is an emergency for the Yamanouchi-Uesugi family, who had established a certain position in Kamakura prefecture.
Now, let's move on to the perspective of Mr. Mochiuji, the highest authority in Kamakura-fu at that time.
At least Mr. Mochiuji said, " I heard rumors of rebellion by Mitsutaka and headed for the Kanto Kanrei Uesugi Constitution . From the facts, it is probable that a certain degree of trust was built between the two.
Zenshu Uesugi, who may be on his side with his uncle who is apparently trying to deprive him of his power by pushing the constitution into disrepair. Even if he gets the position of assistant, he cannot be trusted, and he will use the son of the constitution, Kenki, more than Zenshu. It shouldn't be very interesting for Zenshu.
The confiscation of Zenshu's vassals occurred in such a situation. It was a long-awaited situation for Mr. Mochiuji and the Yamanouchi-Uesugi family that Zenshu refused to serve because of his illness.
Uesugi Zenshu's position in Kamakura-fu deteriorated rapidly, and in 1416 he began planning to eliminate Mochiuji with Ashikaga Mitsutaka and Mochinaka.
In this way, he was dissatisfied with the three son-in-laws of Zenshu, Mitsuzumi Iwamatsu, Shigeyuki Nasu, and Kanto Chiba, as well as those with close ties in the 10 Kanto countries (including Shingen Takeda's ancestors) and Mochiuji. Rebellion against Mr. Mochiuji, including those and local nationals, " Uesugi Zenshu's Rebellion 』Was caused.
Influence of Uesugi Zenshu's disturbance
Looking at Kyoto, the Muromachi Shogunate was a shogun of Yoshimitsu Ashikaga's child, Yoshimochi Ashikaga, the fourth generation.
It was Yoshimochi who took the throne as the fourth shogun, but some of the warlords and officials at that time were the names of his younger brother, Yoshimitsu (the fourth or fifth son of Yoshimitsu), who was a good-looking and smart candidate for another shogun. Was raised.
It is said that Yoshimitsu Ashikaga was fond of such Yoshitsugu, but when he saw that he had been in the shogunate position before he was alive and handed over his position to Yoshimochi, it seems that he had no intention of putting Yoshitsugu in the shogunate position. ..
Even so, Yoshimochi would not have been calm because he was fond of his father, who was different from other brothers, and his name was raised as a candidate for a shogun at the time of his vassals. In fact, Yoshimochi and Yoshimochi were terrible (Yoshimochi once tied up with Mr. Kitabatake and made a fuss about raising troops).
Why did you suddenly talk about the Muromachi Shogunate from the story of Zenshu? However, there was a point of contact with the younger brother of Shogun Yoshimochi, Yoshimochi, who had Zenshu's daughter as a concubine.
There is a possibility that the opposition groups of the rebels and the shogunate itself will gather in the Uesugi Zenshu turbulence. It will be very troublesome if the vassals of the Shogunate who carry Yoshitsugu and the forces of the Later Southern Court are added.
If the Uesugi Zenshu turbulence could be settled only in Kamakura prefecture, the shogunate would be able to reduce the power of Kamakura prefecture. (Mr. Mochiuji was also trying to set something up for the Shogunate, so the Shogunate did not support him).
Suruga Imagawa, Echigo Uesugi, Shinano guardian Ogasawara, Satake who belonged to the northern morning, and Utsunomiya who was wary of Kamakura, gave their lives to the subjugation. Zenshu once took control of Kamakura-fu, but when the shogunate also sent out an army, his strength was insufficient. In the end, Zenshu, Mitsutaka, and Mochinaka are driven into suicide.
The shogun's younger brother, Yoshitsugu Ashikaga, was arrested in the midst of the turmoil of this turmoil and was killed at the end.
Furthermore, as traitors in the shogunate, in addition to super-big names such as Mitsumoto Hosokawa, the former Kanrei, and Yoshishige Shiba, the name of the guardian daimyo such as Hatakeyama, Akamatsu, Toki, and Yamana are mentioned. Has been deprived of, or sentenced to discipline or distribution.
Even the next era of Yoshimitsu Ashikaga, who is said to have built the heyday of the Muromachi period, was so rough that I feel that we can see a scale that will shift to the Warring States period in the near future.
