Was the boycott by colonist successful?

The boycott by the colonists was highly influential. It put significant pressure on British merchants with strong trade links to the colonies and the British East India Company.

In response to the economic consequences and potential impact on trade, Lord North's government was compelled to repeal most of the taxes imposed under the Townshend Acts, except for tea. The successful boycott, coupled with other resistance efforts such as the Boston Tea Party in 1773, played a role in escalating tensions between the colonies and the British authorities, eventually leading to the American Revolution.
