The cause of her death is uncertain, but most historians believe she died from complications related to childbirth, specifically puerperal fever (also known as childbed fever), an infection that can develop after childbirth. This was a common cause of death for women in the 16th century. Her death can also be attributed to unsterile conditions during delivery resulting in sepsis infection which took her within ten days of death.
Catherine Parr's body was buried in the choir of Sudeley Castle in Gloucestershire,
England. Her tomb can still be seen there today.
