Among the plans to turn Berlin into the world capital, great public works had been designed that would completely remodel the German capital. To the south of the city, the construction of a large railway station, the southern station, was planned, which was never built.
Despite this, construction plans were launched in 1938 with the creation just outside Teltow of a large facility for materials and workers.
The plans were canceled in 1942 due to the war, but the facilities were reused by the Gestapo as a concentration camp. Up to 45,000 people passed through the different facilities until 1945, of which 1,289 of 45 different nationalities died.
Since 1948 a large memorial has been opened on the site in remembrance of the victims of fascism.
