In 2008 a small memorial to homosexuals persecuted by Nazism was inaugurated. As with other population groups persecuted by the Nazi regime, the homosexual community decided to place a memorial to their dead in the German capital.
Homosexuals were persecuted by Nazism with great zeal, since they were considered unnatural people who threatened the purity of the Aryan race. Hundreds were persecuted, tortured and murdered throughout the European continent. In the concentration camps they were identified with pink triangles.
How to get to the monument to homosexuals
The small memorial is located inside the Tiergarten, the most important park in Berlin and just across the street from the Jewish Holocaust memorial.
What can you see
The monument is made up of a large concrete block where inside you can see a screen where repeated pairs of people kissing are projected.
