Here are the Twelve Labours of Hercules:
1. Nemean Lion: Hercules had to kill the Nemean Lion, a ferocious beast with a hide that was impervious to weapons. Hercules strangled the lion with his bare hands and skinned it with its own claws.
2. Lernaean Hydra: Hercules had to slay the Lernaean Hydra, a multi-headed serpent that grew two new heads for every one that was cut off. Hercules used fire to cauterize the stumps of the Hydra's necks and eventually defeated it.
3. Ceryneian Hind: Hercules had to capture the Ceryneian Hind, a golden-horned deer that was sacred to Artemis. Hercules chased the deer for a year and eventually captured it by tricking it into a trap.
4. Erymanthian Boar: Hercules had to capture the Erymanthian Boar, a giant wild boar that was terrorizing the countryside. Hercules drove the boar out of its lair and then chased it to exhaustion, capturing it with a net.
5. Augean Stables: Hercules had to clean the Augean Stables, which were home to thousands of cattle. Hercules diverted two rivers to flood the stables and wash away the manure in a single night.
6. Stymphalian Birds: Hercules had to drive away the Stymphalian Birds, a flock of man-eating birds with beaks and claws of bronze. Hercules used castanets to scare the birds into the air and then shot them down with arrows.
7. Cretan Bull: Hercules had to capture the Cretan Bull, a giant, white bull that was terrorizing the island of Crete. Hercules wrestled the bull to the ground and then rode it back to Tiryns.
8. Mares of Diomedes: Hercules had to steal the Mares of Diomedes, four wild horses that were fed on human flesh. Hercules defeated Diomedes and his men and then took the horses back to Tiryns.
9. Belt of Hippolyta: Hercules had to obtain the belt of Hippolyta, queen of the Amazons. Hercules sailed to the Amazon kingdom and tricked Hippolyta into giving him her belt.
10. Cattle of Geryon: Hercules had to steal the cattle of Geryon, a three-headed giant who lived on the island of Erythia. Hercules defeated Geryon and his two-headed dog, Orthrus, and then drove the cattle back to Tiryns.
11. Apples of the Hesperides: Hercules had to steal the golden apples of the Hesperides, a group of nymphs who lived in a garden on the edge of the world. Hercules tricked Atlas, the Titan who held up the sky, into getting the apples for him.
12. Capture of Cerberus: Hercules had to capture Cerberus, the three-headed dog that guarded the entrance to the underworld. Hercules entered the underworld and wrestled Cerberus into submission, then brought the dog back to Tiryns.
