What are causualties?

Casualties are injuries or deaths caused by an accident, disaster, war, or other event. They are often classified into three categories:

* Killed in action (KIA): A casualty who dies as a result of combat or other hostile activity.

* Wounded in action (WIA): A casualty who is injured in combat or other hostile activity but does not die from the injuries.

* Missing in action (MIA): A casualty whose fate is unknown and who has not been found or declared dead.

Other categories of casualties include:

* Civilian casualties: Casualties that occur among non-combatants.

* Friendly fire casualties: Casualties that occur when one side of a conflict accidentally kills or injures its own personnel.

* Collateral damage casualties: Casualties that occur as a unintended result of military or other operations.

Casualties are often used as a measure of the severity of a conflict or disaster. The number of casualties can have a significant impact on the outcome of a war or the course of a natural disaster.
