What does BC and AD stand for in Greek?

The terms "BC" and "CE" are used in English to denote periods before and after the birth of Jesus Christ, respectively. The Greek language does not directly use the terms "BC" and "AD", but instead has equivalents that are commonly used in Greek texts and historical discussions.

In Greek, the corresponding terms are:

- Π.Χ. (Πρό Χριστού) for "before Christ"

- Μ.Χ. (Μετά Χριστόν) for "after Christ"

The term "Π.Χ." (Pró Christoú) literally translates to "before Christ's (era)". Similarly, "Μ.Χ." (Metá Christón) translates to "after Christ". These terms are widely used in Greek historical texts, archaeological studies, and religious writings.
