George Bush

Born in Milton, Massachusetts in 1924, George Herbert Walker Bush continued his studies at Phillips Academy before enlisting in the army after the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941. Decorated for war, he joined the prestigious Yale University and became a businessman in the oil industry.

He was elected to the Chamber of Deputies, then appointed United States Ambassador to the UN in 1971 by President Nixon. He then became director of the CIA in 1976, then Vice-President of the United States under Ronald Reagan (1981-1989). He was elected 41 e President of the United States in 1989.

Domestically, the Republican president has undertaken significant civil law reform for people with disabilities, child protection and pollution control with the Clean Air Act. Externally, he signed NAFTA with Canada and Mexico, maintained a strong dialogue with Gorbachev's USSR and triggered the first Gulf War against Iraq in 1991. Following the dismantling of the Soviet Union , he is the president of the American superpower in what he calls the “new world order”. Beaten in 1992 against Clinton, he continues to carry out missions on the international scene and sees his son George W Bush become the 43 th President of the United States.

He died on November 30, 2018, at the age of 94.
