Ban Prawae Ancient Town

General Condition

Ban Prawae Ancient City is one of the 3 cities of Yarang Ancient City located on the Delta, Upper Pattani. Ban Prawae Ancient City is located at the northern end of Yarang Ancient City, away from Ban Ja Leh Ancient City. 300 meters south, the ancient town plan of Ban Prawae is a rhombus shape with dimensions of 470x510 meters, with ditches (deep and narrow ditches), earthen walls and forts on all four corners of the city. On the west side, there is a small water canal connected to the natural waterway that flows from the temple house. On the south side, there is a canal for water dug from the fort area to connect with the moat in the northern corner of the city of Yarang. Inside the town on the south side, there is an L-shaped soil line in English, 120 and 130 meters long, presumably as a dyke (Pakphadee Yookong and Pornthip Panthukowit 1995 :267).

At present, the area within the ancient city of Ban Prawae is an agricultural, cultivating and living area.

Waterway

in the influence of the Pattani River Basin and the secondary waterway of Ban Don Wai and Ban Panan, which is a branch of the old Pattani River in the east. (Currently, only evidence remains to be seen as an old waterway)

Ban Prawae Ancient Town (Muang Prawang) is one of the 3 cities of the ancient city of Yarang. Located at the northern end of the ancient town, 300 meters from Ban Ja Leh Ancient Town, Ban Prawae Ancient Town plan is a rhombus shape with dimensions of 470x510 meters, with ditches (deep and narrow ditches), earthen walls and four corner forts. On the west side, there is a small water canal connected to the natural waterway that flows from the temple house. On the south side, there is a canal for water dug from the fort area to connect with the moat in the northern corner of the city of Yarang. From the survey found a group of important ancient sites within the city. The remains of 2 brick structures and 5 old wells. Evidence from excavations and excavations found that the ancient city of Ban Prawae was built at the time of early Ayutthaya. (late 19th Buddhist century), but from the evidence from the survey Ancient artifacts found contemporary with Ban Ja Leh archaeological sites and temple houses, such as Siwa Lingam, Kudu parts, Stupa parts, etc., leading scholars to assume that this area may have been used in this area since the 12th Buddhist century onwards, together with the ancient city of the house. Jale and Ban Wat The city was then rebuilt around the end of the 19th Buddhist century, Muang Prawae with a plan of 470x510 meters, with a moat, earthen walls and four fortresses seen today. It is assumed that it may be related to the construction of the city around Ban Krue Se and later become Pattani City.
