General Condition
Wat Kor Maung Khiao is an abandoned ancient site. It is on the east side of Wiang Kum Kam. Currently located on the edge of Chiang Mai - Lamphun Road (Ton Yang Road or Highway 106) at the mouth of Soi 9, about 3.3 kilometers east of the Ping River.
The surrounding areas are shops and residential houses. before excavation Wat Kor Maung Khiao has a mound of soil and in the archaeological site there is a large mango stump. Hence the origin of the name of the ancient site.

Wat Kor Maung Khiao is an abandoned ancient site. The name of Wat Kor Maung Khiao has no document mentioned. It is a name that comes from the villagers, because the ancient site used to have a large mango tree stump.
The Fine Arts Department has excavated and designed for restoration in 2003 (Department of Fine Arts 2005 :50) found information of ancient monuments and antiques as follows:
The archaeological site of Wat Kor Maw Khiao consists of The sanctuary faces east, the glass wall and the buildings in the rectangular plan.
Architectural features
Vihara, the present condition appears only at the base of the pad in the rectangular plan. Lifting the front two parts, one back, for being the room to enshrine the principal Buddha image. wooden roof structure thatched with clay tiles There is a staircase leading up to the front of the temple.
Most of the glass walls have already collapsed. Only some parts remain to be seen in the east. It is assumed that the upper part may look like a lotus or a lotus.
A building in a rectangular plan found only the base facing east like a temple It is assumed that it is a small temple.

For the important antiques found from the excavation, such as jars of earthenware. Brown and light green glazed bottles made from the San Kamphaeng stove. White glazed bowl from Wiang Kalong furnace source. and Chinese Ming dynasty wares produced from Jing De Zhen kilns, Jiangxi Province (1911 - 2187). roof tiles, nails, clay pestle, etc.
Determination of age
From the consideration of ancient monuments and artifacts found It is assumed that Wat Kor Maung Khiao should have been built during the 21st – 22nd Buddhist century.
