Ku Ban is located within the ancient community of Ban Bua Simma. It is assumed that Ku Ban is at least an ancient site during the Khmer period.
From a survey conducted by the Fine Arts Department (1983), it was found that Baan Bua Simma can be divided into 4 parts:Baan Bua Simma, Don Pu Ta, Don Tan and Nonok Khang. At that time, both ancient sites and antiques were found. In the area of Don Pu Ta, the ancient remains of "Ku Ban" were found, made of laterite, red sandstone and bricks. At the right corner of the archaeological site there are 3 parapets. According to villagers, this area used to find bronze Buddha images and Buddha images. white marble Other antiques Found on Don Pu Ta include the fragments of earthenware. roof tiles Fragments of stucco decorate the building, fierce stone and brali.
A survey of the Sirindhorn Anthropology Center 2014 found that Ku Ban has a hilly appearance of ancient ruins. The shape of the ancient monument is not clearly visible. But the hill has a rectangular shape. It is about 9 meters wide (along the east-west direction), about 12 meters long (along the north-south line), and about 2 meters high. Around the southern slope, laterite stones, sandstones and bricks are scattered quite densely. On the hill there is a pavilion made of cement. There is a staircase leading up to the east (front) engraved on the floor of the pavilion "6 Mar. 1978", enshrining a Buddha image in the subduing Mara posture. The year it was built is engraved at the base, “B.E. 2521”. There are also 2 white oval-shaped stones, which are stones found in the archaeological site. placed in front of the Buddha image At the base of the stone set the date “10 Dec 20”
On the hill of the ancient monument to the north, next to the pavilion enshrined this Buddha image. There is another pavilion planted in the same style. have a newer condition From an interview with Mr. Paiboon Mamuang Pia (a member of Non Udom Subdistrict Administrative Organization residing at No. 2 Moo 5, Non Udom Subdistrict, Chum Phae District, Khon Kaen Province), it was reported that this pavilion was built around 2007-2008 But the construction was not finished because the Fine Arts Department had suspended it. On the north side of the ancient archaeological site around this new pavilion, shards of clay pottery were found, both clay and dense. Some pieces have a brown-black coating. Mr. Paiboon provided information that before the construction of the new pavilion The soil around the hill was brought to fill the hill. to level the slopes evenly for building a pavilion.
On the southeast side of the hill, a sandstone parapet is found embedded in the ground. Only some of them emerge from the surface of the soil. The condition is quite corroded. According to the map for the registration of ancient monuments of the Fine Arts Department in 2003, it was found that there was another parapet on the southwest side of the hill. But from this survey was not found. Mr. Paiboon provided information that Originally there was 1 more card in that position. But now I don't know where it's gone.
North side of the ancient hill Approximately 20 meters away, there is a large ancient square shaped pond with a tilt direction along the northeast - southwest. If this ancient site is the same age as the excavation of a pond It was assumed in the beginning that Ku Ban may be facing northeast-southwest, like a pond. The villagers still use this pond until now.
Mr. Paiboon also provided additional information that Various antiques such as bronze bowls and stone Buddha images have been found. In the fields around the Bua Simma community The area of Don Pu Ta, where Ku Ban is located, is currently in the public interest. It is a sacred area for performing religious and ceremonies of the village. Including being a community stadium
