The National Archeology and Paleontology Award Palarq Foundation award it aims to recognize the excellence and originality of Archaeological or Palaeontological projects, directed by Spanish research teams, and developed both nationally and internationally, without restrictions of cultures or historical periods. In so far as Paleontology projects are concerned they should be related to human evolution.
The first edition in 2018 counted 25 participants, 6 finalists and an international jury that failed in favor of the project “Building Tartesians”, research on the Tartesian culture developed by the leading team by the Dr. Sebastian Celestino Perez and Drs. Esther Rodriguez Gonzalez of the Institute of Archeology (CSIC-Extremadura Board).
So, from 9 March and until 29 May can opt for this award, those research teams belonging to a Spanish institution:universities, research institutes, CSIC, ICREA and affiliates, who are directing a Human Archeology or Paleontology project, which is in progress at the time of the call for the Award.
Applications for aid abroad
On May 15, 2020, the call for grants for projects abroad closed. This annual call is addressed to research teams working on projects of Archeology or Human Paleontology outside Spain and Europe, belonging to a Spanish public institution, such as universities, research institutes, CSIC, ICREA and similar.
The Palarq Foundation maintains its support for researchers by keeping its appeals for help despite the Covid-19 health crisis.
The Palarq Foundation
The Palarq Foundation is a private and non-profit entity created for the purpose of supporting Spanish missions in Archeology and Human Paleontology abroad, excluding Europe, within a perspective spanning from the palaeontological stage to the prehistoric and historical epochs in monumental interest. Founded in 2016, it currently finances 48 projects of Spanish teams abroad and 54 projects in Spain of application of methodologies and techniques of the experimental/analytical sciences in Archaeo-Paleontology.
