The National Days of Archeology is this weekend!

On June 14, 15 and 16, 2019, during the National Archeology Days (JNA), museums, laboratory sites, universities and research organizations will welcome the public throughout France. For the first time, eight European countries, including Italy, Germany, Portugal and the United Kingdom, are joining the operation, including Sciences et Avenir is a partner.

Curious, you want to take part in a Gallo-Roman meal, discover the construction site of a 17th th vessel century, medieval burials, or visit a Gallic oppidum or the Pont-du-Gard? This weekend is for you! Organized by the National Institute for Preventive Archaeological Research (Inrap) under the aegis of the Ministry of Culture, the National Days of Archeology will open their doors from this Friday, June 14 and until June 16, thus celebrating their 10th anniversary. ! From the Grand Est to Occitania, from Hauts-de-France to Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, or even in Ile-de-France, in mainland France and overseas, more than a thousand events are organized for this event which had attracted nearly 200,000 visitors in 2018.

"Archaeology Village", workshops, exhibition

Here are a few examples among hundreds of others.

In the Yvelines, one of the many "Archaeology Village" will be opened within the National Archeology Museum of Saint-Germain-en Laye, one of the most important archeology museums in the world installed in the heart of the former castle of the kings of France.

In Marseille, at the Center de la Vieille Charité, a famous historical monument of the Phocaean city, workshops will allow you to discover disciplines such as carpology, the study of seeds and ancient consumption habits or even archaeozoology.

In Calvados, in Longues-sur-Mer, on the occasion of the 75 th anniversary of the Landing, an exhibition will present the new research carried out by archaeologists on the sites of the Battle of Normandy. Explaining how today, this discipline brings a new look at history from the study of the vestiges of the Second World War.
