Sigebert I (535 - 575)

He inherited Austrasia on the death of his father Clotaire I. He marries Brunehaut the daughter of the king of the Visigoths. His brother Chilpéric having assassinated the Galswinthe (sister of Brunehaut), Sigebert enters in fight against Chilpéric and his Frédégonde wife who direct Neustria. First receiving the support of his brother Gontran, Sigebert fell out with him, so much so that he had to ask for assistance from the Saxons, Thuringians or Alamanni. But he is assassinated by two slaves in the pay of Frédégonde who plant a scramasaxe (dagger) in his armpit.
