How many wives could ancient Egyptians have?

In ancient Egyptian society, the practice of polygamy was limited to the upper classes, particularly among the pharaohs and high-ranking officials. The number of wives a man could have varied depending on his social status and wealth. Pharaohs, who were considered divine rulers, often had multiple wives, including a Great Royal Wife, who held a特別な地位and played a significant role in the religious and political life of Egypt. In contrast, commoners and lower-ranking officials typically had one wife, although they could have additional concubines.
