Who invented concentration camp?

Concentration camps were first used by the British during the Anglo-Boer War in the early 1900s. They were used to house and control civilian populations displaced by the war, and were characterized by harsh conditions and overcrowding. The British implemented this measure as a response to the guerrilla tactics used by the Boer forces, which hindered the British army's ability to effectively combat the Boer commandos.
