Where did the seljuk Turks originate?

The Seljuk Turks originated in the steppes of Central Asia, in the region that is now known as Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. They were a branch of the Oghuz Turks, a larger Turkic confederation that also included the Pechenegs and the Cumans. The Seljuks were named after their leader, Seljuk Bey, who was the grandson of a chieftain from the Kınık tribe.
