Did the Aztecs live in desert?

The Aztecs did not live in a desert. They lived in a region of central Mexico that was originally a lake system, surrounded by mountains. The climate was temperate and humid, with a rainy season and a dry season. The Aztecs built a complex system of canals and dikes to control the water supply, and they used the fertile land to grow crops such as maize, beans, and squash.
