Where did the ancient Greeks worship their gods and goddesses?

The ancient Greeks constructed grand sanctuaries to honor and worship their gods and goddesses. These sacred spaces, known as 'sanctuaries' or 'temene', held profound importance in religious practices and communal gatherings throughout many Greek city-states, including prominent centers like Athens, Olympia, Delphi, Nemea, Epidaurus, and Delphi. These places played an integral role in religious festivals, ceremonies, sporting events, and other events of considerable social and cultural significance.
