What were greek temple roofs made out of?

The roofs of Greek temples were typically made of terracotta tiles, which were large, flat, rectangular pieces of fired clay. The tiles were laid in overlapping rows on a wooden framework, and they were often decorated with patterns or painted with bright colours. The tiles were held in place by wooden pegs or nails, and they were sometimes covered with a layer of plaster to protect them from the weather.
