Who were the fryd in Battle of Hastings?

The fryd were a division of the Anglo-Saxon military in the 11th century. They were a well-trained and disciplined body of warriors who were responsible for protecting the king and the royal household. The fryd were also used to garrison towns and castles, and to fight in battles. At the Battle of Hastings in 1066, the fryd formed the core of the English army. They were led by King Harold Godwinson, and they fought bravely against the Norman invaders. However, the Normans were ultimately victorious, and the fryd were defeated.
