Is Ur from the fertile crescent a early settlement?

Ur is one of the earliest settlements in the fertile crescent. It is located in southern Mesopotamia, in present-day Iraq. Ur was founded in around 3800 BC, and was one of the most important cities in the region for over 2,000 years. Ur was the capital of the Sumerian Empire, and was home to some of the most famous Sumerian kings, including Ur-Nammu and Gilgamesh. Ur was also a major religious center, and was home to the Temple of Inanna, which was one of the most important temples in the ancient world. Ur was destroyed in around 500 BC, but its ruins are still visible today.
