Why was William the Conqueror brave and skilful?

Brave:

- William was known for his personal bravery and prowess in battle.

- He led from the front and was often in the thick of the fighting.

- At the Battle of Hastings, he is said to have charged into the English lines, personally killing King Harold.

- He also survived several assassination attempts, demonstrating his courage and resilience.

Skilful:

- William was a skilled military leader and strategist.

- He was able to unite the Norman and English forces after the conquest and maintain control over England for the rest of his reign.

- He introduced a number of reforms, including the Domesday Book, which helped to consolidate his power and establish a more efficient system of government.

- He was also a shrewd diplomat and was able to maintain good relations with other European rulers, despite his conquest of England.
