Why carbon be used to date all ages of material?

Carbon cannot be used to date all ages of material. This is because carbon-14, the isotope of carbon used in radiocarbon dating, has a half-life of 5,730 years. This means that every 5,730 years, the amount of carbon-14 in an object decreases by half. As a result, carbon-14 dating can only be used to date materials that are less than about 50,000 years old. For older materials, other dating methods must be used.
