Who wrote Anglo saxon chronicle?

The Anglo-Saxon Chronicle is an Old English collection of annals that record the history of early medieval England. It was compiled in various manuscripts from the 9th to the 12th centuries, and is the most important source of information on the history of England during this period. The Chronicle is believed to have been written by a group of monks, with contributions from different sources. The main entries were made in Wessex, but other contributions were made from Mercia, Northumbria and other parts of England.
