The Roman Empire was one of the largest empires in history, stretching from Britain in the west to Mesopotamia in the east. Its lands were washed by the Mediterranean Sea in the south and the Atlantic Ocean and the North Sea to the north and west. The Roman Empire also included part of the Black Sea and the Red Sea.
