Who are the crusaders?

The Crusaders were a Christian military movement active during the High Middle Ages. They campaigned throughout Europe, but especially in the Middle East to liberate Jerusalem from Muslim control. During the Crusades, Christian armies from Western Europe captured the Holy Land from Muslims.

In addition to these major conquests, the Crusaders also launched several minor campaigns and expeditions elsewhere in Europe, including against the Moors in Spain and the pagan tribes of Eastern Europe.
