The founder of the Mongol Empire was Temüjin, better known as Genghis Khan. He was born in 1162 in what is now Mongolia and was the son of a tribal chieftain. Genghis Khan united the Mongol tribes and led them to conquer vast territories in Asia and Europe, creating one of the largest empires in history.
