About the Coin: The Indian Head $2 1/2 gold piece is one of the last gold coins produced by the United States before the Great Depression caused a halt to all gold production. Minted from 1908-1929 this coin was a part of the gold boom that took place during the early 1900's. The Indian Head $2 1/2 featured an American Indian adorned in a full headdress on its obverse. The reverse featured an Eagle perched on a rock with olive leaves in its mouth and a large 2 1/2 in the background.
