The Ming dynasty of China was founded by the Hongwu Emperor (Zhu Yuanzhang), who reigned from 1368 to 1398. He was succeeded by his grandson, the Jianwen Emperor (Zhu Yunwen), who reigned from 1398 to 1402. The Jianwen Emperor was overthrown by his uncle, the Yongle Emperor (Zhu Di), who reigned from 1402 to 1424. The Yongle Emperor was succeeded by his son, the Hongxi Emperor (Zhu Gaozhi), who reigned from 1424 to 1425. The Hongxi Emperor was succeeded by his son, the Xuande Emperor (Zhu Zhanji), who reigned from 1425 to 1435. The Xuande Emperor was succeeded by his cousin, the Zhengtong Emperor (Zhu Qizhen), who reigned from 1435 to 1449.
