French Equatorial Africa , French- Africa Equatoriale Française (AEF) , together four French areas in Central Africa from 1910 to 1959. In 1960, the former territory of Ubangi-Shari (Oubangui-Chari), to which Chad ( Chad) was attached in 1920 to Central African Republic and the Republic of Chad ; Middle Congo (Moyen-Congo) became the Congo Republic, now the Republic of the Congo ; and Gabon became the Republic of Gabon .
