Calogrenant is a knight in the court of King Arthur. He is Yvain's cousin.

The Lion Knight

This book written by Chrétien de Troyes recounts the encounter between a lion and Yvain. During a Panquecôte celebration, Calogrenant recounts the shame of his life:a duel against a knight he lost. Yvain promises to recover his honor and goes there. Along the way, he meets a villain who tells him about a marvelous fountain which, when water is poured on his steps, has the gift of triggering terrible storms. Yvain tries and comes across a knight (the lord of the fountain and the knight who had beaten Calogrenant.) Yvain, mortally wounded, follows him to his castle and comes across a maiden named Lunette. She helps him to hide and goes to warn his mistress who is the beaten knight's wife. Learning of the death of her husband, the princess decides to look for the assassin, but Lunette decides to make them meet. Yvain then falls in love with his opponent's wife.
