One of the main terms of the armistice that ended World War I was the cessation of hostilities. This meant that all military operations on land, sea, and air were to stop at 11:00 AM on November 11, 1918. The armistice also called for the withdrawal of German troops from occupied territories, the surrender of German submarines and other warships, and the lifting of the Allied blockade of Germany.
