History of Europe

How did the crusades lead to mercantilism?

The Crusades did not lead to mercantilism. Mercantilism is an economic system that was dominant in Europe from the 16th to the 18th centuries. It is characterized by government regulation of the economy, with the goal of increasing national wealth and power. The Crusades, on the other hand, were a series of religious wars fought between Christians and Muslims from 1095 to 1291. While the Crusades did have some economic consequences, such as the disruption of trade routes and the rise of new merchant classes, they did not directly lead to the development of mercantilism.
