Neil Alden Armstrong (1930–2012) was an American astronaut and the first person to walk on the moon. He attended Purdue University, where he studied aeronautical engineering, but dropped out in 1949 to serve in the Korean War. He later returned to Purdue and completed his degree in 1955.
