How do the Germans launched their attack against Canadians?

Operation Spring

The Germans launched their attack against the Canadians on August 19, 1944, in an operation code-named "Operation Spring". The attack began with a heavy artillery barrage, followed by an infantry assault. The Germans were able to quickly overrun the Canadian positions and advance into the town of Falaise. The Canadians were forced to retreat, but they were able to regroup and launch a counter-attack. The fighting in Falaise continued for several days, but the Canadians were eventually able to retake the town.

Operation Totalize

The Germans launched a second attack against the Canadians on August 8, 1944, in an operation code-named "Operation Totalize". This attack was also preceded by a heavy artillery barrage, but the Germans were met with stiff resistance from the Canadians. The fighting continued for several days, but the Germans were eventually forced to retreat.

The Canadian victories at Falaise and Totalize were significant turning points in the Battle of Normandy. These victories helped to clear the way for the Allied advance into France and ultimately led to the defeat of Germany.
