History of Europe

Who made or created lasagne?

The first documented recipe for lasagne comes from the cookbook Liber de Coquina from the 14th century. However, the dish is likely much older, with origins in ancient Greece and Rome. The ancient Greeks made a dish called "laganon" which was a flat pasta sheet that was boiled and then layered with cheese and spices. The Romans also had a similar dish called "lasanum" which was made with sheets of pasta that were layered with cheese, meat, and vegetables.
