Martin Luther is generally not considered a figure of the Renaissance, but rather of the Reformation. Luther was a religious reformer who lived in the 16th century, while the Renaissance was a cultural movement that took place from the 14th to the 17th century. While the Renaissance was characterized by a renewed interest in classical learning, art, and science, Luther's focus was on religious reform. He was certainly a rebel in the sense that he challenged the authority of the Catholic Church, but not in the context of the Renaissance.
