How did the US react to Treaty of Versailles?

The United States reaction to the Treaty was mixed, with strong opposition to the treaty's provisions, particularly the harsh terms imposed on Germany. President Wilson, who had played a leading role in the negotiations at Versailles, strongly supported the treaty and saw it as a way to prevent future wars. However, many Americans, including a majority of Republicans in the Senate, were critical of the treaty's terms and argued that it was too harsh and punitive towards Germany. They also objected to the treaty's provisions for creating a League of Nations, arguing that it would limit American sovereignty. Ultimately, the United States did not ratify the Treaty of Versailles and instead negotiated a separate peace treaty with Germany.
