Who ordered Julius Caesar back to rome?

Julius Caesar never returned to Rome after he crossed the Rubicon, an event that began his final civil war. This act started the Great Roman Civil War, from 49 to 45 BC, which ended with Caesar's victory. Caesar was assassinated in 44 BC by a group of senators led by Marcus Junius Brutus and Gaius Cassius Longinus, who feared that he would become too powerful and overthrow the Republic.
