In April 2018 my first book, entitled “The Plantagenets”, was released. I am very grateful to the Libros.com publishing house for the opportunity they gave me to see a work published on paper in which I had put a lot of effort and dedication.
However, in these three years works on this exciting English dynasty have continued to be published with new approaches to the facts covered in the book or new biographies of some of the Plantagenet kings that add interesting perspectives on them.
Also, I am not going to deny it either, there were some aspects of the publication that did not leave me satisfied. Essentially I am referring to the graphic part (maps, family trees) and the use and location of the very abundant photographic material that I collected on my travels through England to document myself about the Plantagenets.
After the three years agreed upon in the contract with the publisher, I have decided to recover the rights to the work and undertake a new revised and enlarged edition with the latest publications on the Plantagenets and with a totally new approach from the graphic point of view, enriching it with maps , family trees and photos of the places mentioned in the work, in color and located (as I like as a reader) not at the end or in the center, but in the place where they make sense according to the story of the work.
So that you can get an idea of the graphic content of the work, I leave you this video that I made with a journey through the history of England. Not all of it corresponds to the Plantagenet period, but a good part does.
What am I talking about in "The Plantagenets"? I explain it in this synopsis:
The Plantagenets is a journey through the history of one of England's most famous dynasties. Although not all their kings are always identified with this name, who has not heard of Richard the Lionheart? And of Juan sin Tierra? Although it is possible that the name Edward I is little known, if you talk about the bad guy from Braveheart, everyone will surely give him a face. Among the most famous works of Shakespeare are Henry V or Richard III. And who has not read a book or seen a movie or series about Joan of Arc, William Wallace, Thomas Becket, Saladin, Eleanor of Aquitaine, Henry Tudor or Robin Hood?
The Plantagenets were the protagonists of all these events, some kings who were present in the Crusades, in the Hundred Years' War, in the War of the Roses or in the civil wars of the 14th century for the throne of Castile.
An entertaining book that covers medieval England with passion and narrates one by one and from all points of view the reigns of the monarchs of this English dynasty, from the time they ascended the throne in 1154 until they were deposed by the Tudors after the battle of Bosworth in 1485. A dynasty that wrote the medieval history of England, Great Britain and Europe and that personalizes better than anyone the saying that reality is stranger than fiction. The fascinating story of a movie dynasty.
This new revised and expanded edition incorporates the results of the latest published works on the Plantagenets. It is also enriched with abundant illustrations (maps and family trees) and with numerous graphic material from the author's archive and the result of his travels through the places where the history of the Plantagenets was written.
In a few months the new edition will be available on paper and in digital format.
