History of South America

Did spies in the American revolution get paid?

Spies in the American Revolution were not paid a fixed salary. Instead, they were paid for each specific mission or task they completed. The amount they were paid varied depending on the risk and difficulty of the mission. For example, spies who were sent behind enemy lines to gather intelligence were paid more than those who simply gathered information from within their own communities. In addition to monetary rewards, spies were sometimes promised land, titles, or other forms of compensation for their services.
