History of South America

Where most slaves came from?

Most slaves during the transatlantic slave trade came from West Africa. The region known as the "Slave Coast" (present-day Benin and Nigeria) was the primary source of enslaved people, followed by the Gold Coast (present-day Ghana) and the Bight of Biafra (present-day Nigeria and Cameroon). Other regions that supplied enslaved people included Central Africa (Congo, Angola), East Africa (Mozambique, Tanzania), and Madagascar.
