When did abortions start?

Abortion has been practiced since ancient times, with evidence of its existence in ancient Egypt, Greece, and Rome. The first known written record of abortion dates back to the 15th century B.C. in the Ebers Papyrus, an Egyptian medical text. In ancient Greece, abortion was legal and widely practiced, with Hippocrates, the father of medicine, describing various methods of abortion in his writings. In ancient Rome, abortion was generally discouraged but not explicitly prohibited, and there are references to abortion in the writings of Roman authors such as Ovid and Juvenal.
