History of South America

What year did the us 10 cent pieces stop being made from silver?

The United States 10-cent piece, commonly known as a dime, stopped being made from silver in 1965. Before that, dimes were composed of 90% silver and 10% copper. In 1965, the composition of the dime was changed to a copper-nickel alloy, known as cupro-nickel, to reduce the cost of producing the coin. The new dimes were still worth 10 cents, but they were no longer made from silver.
