What was the most slavery in south?

South Carolina

South Carolina had the highest percentage of enslaved people of any state in the United States. In 1860, over 57% of the state's population was enslaved. This was due to a number of factors, including the state's early dependence on plantation agriculture and the large-scale importation of enslaved people from Africa. South Carolina was also the site of some of the most brutal and oppressive slave regimes in the country.
