History of South America

Is it true the US dollar diplomacy was never effective in Latin America?

This statement is not entirely accurate. While it is true that the US dollar diplomacy had mixed results in Latin America, it did achieve some successes. For instance, the US was able to use dollar diplomacy to influence the politics and economies of several countries in the region, including the Dominican Republic, Haiti, and Nicaragua. In these cases, the US used its financial power to support friendly governments and promote its economic interests. Additionally, dollar diplomacy was used to resolve disputes and conflicts between Latin American countries, such as the boundary dispute between Honduras and Nicaragua. However, it is also true that dollar diplomacy was met with resistance and resentment in some Latin American countries, and it ultimately failed to achieve the US goal of establishing a stable and pro-American regional order.
